About Me

Hi, I’m Marty,

I’m the artist behind texturedbymarty, based in North Carolina. I work in mixed-media acrylic painting, exploring emotion through texture, color, material, and movement.

My work begins with feeling and evolves through layers—sometimes intentionally, sometimes intuitively. I use acrylic paint alongside sculptural materials such as modeling paste, glass, quartz, stones, and other found elements to create surfaces that invite you to look closer.

I don't want my paintings to tell you exactly what to feel. I want them to give you somewhere to feel it.

My Story

I’m a mixed-media painter based in North Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and nearly a decade of professional painting experience. While my background is rooted in art education, my passion has always been creating work that communicates emotion, memory, and human experience through texture and layered materials. My process is deeply intuitive, allowing each piece to evolve through movement, depth, and sculptural surfaces. I’ve also had the opportunity to exhibit work in a mental health awareness exhibition, a project that was especially meaningful to me because of my compassion for emotional well-being and the importance of creating spaces for connection and reflection through art.
